I talk to a lot of people in my coaching practice and one thing I hear quiet often is how people invested in themselves when they first got started in their careers. Then, as things progressed and they got closer to their goals and got what they thought they wanted, they stopped educating themselves. That, they say, turned out to be one of their biggest mistakes. There are also some people who believe that once they’re through with high school or college they are done learning. That is another huge mistake.
Why is that? Why do we stop educating ourselves when we get closer to our goals? It’s probably got something to do with thinking that we don’t need anymore education because we’ve almost accomplished what we set out to do.
In my seminars I talk about getting back in the habit of reading, listening to good, positive, uplifting materials and going to seminars to learn. That’s the real secret of success because that puts you in the position to learn the things to do to become successful. Success isn’t about how much money you earn, it’s about who you become in the process. Continuing your education on your own will help you become the person you were meant to be.
Remember, if you’re not moving ahead, you’re falling behind. There is no standing still.
