What Are You Saying to Yourself?

We spend a great deal of time talking to other people.

But there is another conversation taking place every day—the conversation we have with ourselves.

What do you tell yourself when you make a mistake?

What do you say when something doesn't work?

What happens inside your mind when you face a difficult challenge?

Our internal dialogue can influence the way we approach life.

If we constantly tell ourselves that we can't, that we're not capable, or that there's no hope, eventually those messages can begin to shape the way we think and act.

But we can choose a different conversation.

Instead of:

"I can't do this."

Try:

"I can take the next step."

Instead of:

"I failed."

Try:

"I learned something."

Instead of:

"It's too late."

Try:

"What can I do today?"

Positive self-talk isn't about pretending that problems don't exist.

It's about facing reality without allowing discouragement to have the final word.

Pay attention to the words you speak to yourself.

They matter.
